Phil’s story

Ladies and Gentlemen, give it up for your host and founder of Gagging for Laughs: Phil Dinsdale!

Phil is an ex-steel worker, turned NHS nurse whose colourful and challenging career spanned three countries and two continents.

A regular black tie after dinner speaker, always a fan of karaoke and needing no excuse to crack a few jokes, Phil decided to take the leap and tested himself at a few open mic nights around London and the South East in 2007.

Since then, Phil has built his comedy folio in the London and South East comedy circuit, ocasionally venturing up north and out west to bring his brand of topical, relatable comedy to a broad audience of comedy fans.

An avid live comedy fan, Phil wanted to bring top quality comedy nights to new audiences closer to home, outside of the inner city comedy club scene.

Thus, Gagging For Laughs was born. Since then, Phil has hosted and compered at hundreds of pubs, sports and social clubs, as well as after dinner comedy nights, appearing regularly as a circuit act all around the UK.
